LASIK Consultation


What to expect during your LASIK Consultation:

● Your evaluation will take approximately 1/2 hour.

● The consultation fee is refunded for patients that have LASIK performed when Dr. Quiring performs their Post-Operative care.

● Dr. Quiring will gather your general health and eye health history, including any contact lens wearing history.

● Dr. Quiring examines the overall health of your eyes.  The following tests are included: prescription check, glaucoma screening, retinal exam and additional corneal tests are taken.

● Once your candidacy is determined we will discuss with you the actual procedure along with its risks, benefits and alternatives. All of your questions will be answered and further discussed if necessary.

● Please note that your Pachymetry test (a measurement of your corneal thickness) and, if you are scheduled for Custom Wavefront LASIK, your Wave Scan test (a mapping of your corneal shape) are performed the day of surgery in Durango.  If your LASIK procedure is scheduled in Denver, these tests are performed in Durango a couple of weeks before your procedure.

If you have been wearing Contact Lenses:

● Soft Lenses:  Discontinue all wearing a minimum of 1 month before LASIK

● Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP):  Discontinue all wearing a minimum of 2 months before LASIK.  If patients have a history of wearing "hard lenses" before RGP's, it may be longer than 2 months.  It is necessary to make sure the patient's prescription has stabilized before LASIK can be performed.

Depending upon your contact lens wearing history, it may be necessary to re-check your prescription more than once to ensure your prescription has stabilized before you have your LASIK procedure.

Dr. Coleman's Treatment Policies

● Patients must be at least 18 years of age
● Patients who are pregnant or nursing cannot be treated
● Patients with a pacemaker or implanted defibrillator cannot be treated
● HIV positive patients can be treated as the last treatment of the day
