Day of Surgery Instructions

What to Expect During your LASIK Pre-Operative Visit:

● Your Pre-Operative examination is completed within one week of your scheduled LASIK procedure.

● At this visit, Dr. Quiring re-checks your prescription check under cycloplegic conditions (dilating drops).  Please keep in mind that your eyes will continue to be dilated, and for your vision to be somewhat blurred for up to 2 days after this visit.

● Dr. Quiring will go over the Informed Consent forms.  These must be signed before your procedure.

● You must watch a video explaining Informed Consent

● Dr. Quiring faxes all your information and forms to ColemanVision a minimum of 3 days before your procedure so that Dr. Coleman can review the information and the staff can create your patient record prior to surgery.

If you have been wearing Contact Lenses...

Soft Lenses:  Discontinue all wearing a minimum of 1 month before LASIK

Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP):  Discontinue all wearing a minimum of 2 months before LASIK.  If patients have a history of wearing "hard lenses" before RGP's, it may be longer than 2 months.  It is necessary to make sure the patient's prescription has stabilized before LASIK can be performed.

Depending upon your contact lens wearing history, it may be necessary to re-check your prescription more than once to ensure your prescription has stabilized before you have your LASIK procedure.

Day of Surgery Instructions

● Arrive 60 minutes prior to your appointment, but if a Wave Scan test is required, arrive 90 minutes prior to your appointment.  Expect to be at the surgical facility for 2 hours

● Shower or bathe prior to your appointment

● Eat a normal meal before your appointment

● Arrange for a driver to bring you to and from your appointment

● Wear loose, casual clothing

● NO hairspray, including scented mousse or gel

● NO perfumes, cologne, scented deodorants or scented body lotions

● NO eye makeup on either eye

● No face makeup including blush and scented facial creams

● No earrings or facial jewelry
